lost hope

I feel like everyone has given up with me. The very few friends I tell my problems to don't want to help me anymore and get mad at me when I come to them upset. My boyfriend has lost interest in me. I'm surrounded by people everyday that I feel as though they don't care about me. I hate my body. I'm going to the beach in less than 2 weeks and I have done nothing but gained weight. I'm trying so hard to lose weight but it isn't working. I tried to buy some diet gummies again but it didn't work because I'm not old enough. I feel like I need them to help me lose the weight I need to lose. I'm going crazy. I just want to be skinny and pretty and loved and perfect but none of that will ever happen. I'm going in the opposite direction and I don't know what to do. My body used to look different and I want it to look more like it used to. Then I will be happy and maybe then people will like me.

Hi hiddengirl1234,

Everyone hasn't given up on you. Those of us here on Proud2Bme are here for you! We care about your health, happiness, and well-being. It must be hard to feel like your loved ones don't want to listen when you talk about your problems and worries. You said that you feel like you'll only be happy and liked when you lose weight; to me, that sounds like the "ED voice" talking. Being skinny doesn't automatically make people happier or more well-liked. There are so many other facets of who you are as a person. What aspects of your personality or the way you are (apart from your physical appearance) do you like? Do you have a good sense of humor? A kind heart? Are you a loyal friend? A caring family member? I can tell from your posts that you are good at expressing yourself in writing. Can you try coming up with a list of things about yourself as you are now that you like? Try to focus on the positive side. I think many people here on these forums can tell you that even when they lost weight, it didn't solve all their problems. The "ED voice" is never satisfied, no matter how much weight you lose. I'm worried about you, hiddengirl1234! I really hope you'll consider talking with a parent or a doctor about what you're going through. There are professionals out there who can help you get to a better, healthier place. If you need someone to talk to, you can call or chat online with the NEDA Helpline: https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/information-referral-helpline . You can also text "NEDA" to 741741 to connect to the Crisis Text Line 24 hours a day. Good luck! I wish you the best. <3
