Gracie Mandel

Gracie Mandel is an education major at Eastern University, studying to be an emotional support teacher. After struggling with OSFED, depression, and anxiety through high school, she entered treatment and found a love for writing and art therapy. She writes various topics on mental health for The Odyssey, Recovery Warriors, and other websites/blogs. She works as the social media administrator for Step Into Growth; an online blog and Instagram that centers on spreading awareness of self-care and recovery.

On a typical day, you’ll find Gracie in a quiet coffee shop working on a poem or reading anything self-help/self-care related. She is a social activist in the LGBT+ community as well as women’s and animal rights. You might find her with her nose behind a camera, filming videos, or in the crook of a microphone, spilling her spoken word poetry into purpose. Her dream is to integrate the methods of art, movement, and poetry therapy into emotional support/special education classrooms for students with mental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities.
