Books: Never Enough

Review by SJ Rosenfeld--Loann is a high school student who feels she cannot compare to her beautiful and popular older sister, Claire, whose boyfriend Loann has had a crush on for years.

When she loses her two best friends, Loann begins to find herself through her new friend, Marcus and their mutual love of photography. After graduating high school and breaking up with her boyfriend, Claire begins to slip into destructive territory and defers from college to focus on ballet. She withdraws from the family and stops eating, and Loann struggles to understand Claire. Claire develops an eating disorder that is all consuming, and Loann, struggling with her own identity, begins to realize that her sister’s beauty and popularity were a façade. Loann’s sister’s insecurities run far deeper than she knew, and Loann is not able to help Claire alone.

Never Enough by Denise Jaden touches on the difficulties sisters can face when one of them is dealing with an eating disorder, as well as the destruction an eating disorder can cause a family.
