falling apart

Hi. My boyfriend broke up with me. My friends are leaving me and turning on me. Someone that I thought was my best friend is bullying me. My parents divorce is stressing me out so much. They keep fighting and it's hard on me. I feel like I have no one right now and I don't know what to do. I self harm and none of these people know that. I don't know what I do to make everyone hate me and lash out at me. One of my friends say that people leave me because no one wants to be friends with someone that is starving them self. Is this true? please help

I'm so sorry to hear about your breakup and about the problems with your friends and family. It must be really difficult to feel like you aren't supported at home or with your friends. Please know that there are people who care about you and who want you to be happy and healthy, even if it may not seem like it. Those of us here on Proud2Bme care about you and want the best for you! Have you talked with your parents in more direct terms about the eating issues you're having and about your self-harming? They might not understand the full extent of what you're dealing with. I know that sometimes people get so caught up in their own issues that it makes it hard to see others struggling, so that could be the case with your friends and family. People who are dealing with disordered eating are still deserving of friendships, love, and care. It can be hard to see someone you care about engaging in behavior that is self-destructive, though, so that might be what your friend was trying to say. It might also be the case that your friends don't know what to do to help you, so they feel pressured to distance themselves from the situation. There are also unfortunately a lot of misunderstandings about eating disorders, and some people (wrongly) assume that people choose to have disordered thoughts and behaviors.

I hope you'll reach out to your parents or to another adult you can trust. You might really benefit from seeing a professional or joining a support group. Talking about what you're going through in a setting like that where people really understand can be extremely helpful. First of all don't listen to anyone, people never encourage you in your difficult times. You are the only one who has to stand for yourself. Forget your past dear and always welcome the new happiness.
